There wouldn't be anything supporting the upward forces on the mounts. The welds would solely be holding it on. Is that enough?

It could work but it'does have to be a pretty beefy mount. What we like to say at school is that at the end of the day, everything fails in single shear.

I might be able to tie the c pillar of the cage into it. No idea if that is a good idea or not. I could also go back to the slider box idea

Mine are welded on both sides and gusseted as well.

Thats where the shackle is mounted from the factory
