There is finally an XJ build on here

Stay tuned, I'm about 75% complete on my rear bumper with swing out tire/Jerry can carriers. Should be done next week. Pic's to come.

Why do a teaser pic when you can have the whole enchilada! Got it to a point where I can actually mount a tire. This was somewhat involved for me since all cuts were made with an angle grinders. Still need to pull the bumper off, grind some ugly welds, smooth out the rough patches and bed line it.  Also need to fashion a license plate bracket/light.

Very nice work. I am a big fan of the auto zone light bolts for illuminating the plate. They are cheap and easy to install, plus they are super bright.

Thanks! I have the arms off and am smoothing out and should bed line tomorrow. The bumper will follow Sunday. Will post pics when completed.

The ugly welds are sorta covered up and the bumper is bed lined.

A wheeling trip usually involves camping and an XJ like most Jeeps have space issues.  Last time out I ended up having to put my gas grill on a tree stump and prep the meals on the ground or my lap.  I decided I needed a table top to work on and since I already had the platform where my tire used to live under, I decided to utilize that and a nice piece of 3/4" oak I had from an old entertainment unit. Worked out well with room under for my usual stuff.
