My new to me Harley.

I needed to vote, so I hopped on the Ultra.

Mission accomplished.
20240319_143228.webp

It was 56Ā° and sunny, but the wind was howling, at speeds of 20 mph plus.

I said screw it, let's ride! As I rounded the airport, in Rockford, I saw a UPS jet getting ready to take off.
20240319_150442.webp

I stopped and watched it take flight.
20240319_150724.webp

I got a video of the lift off, but it won't post here, so use your imagination.

From there I hit the road along the Rock River, as well as a couple other backroads. I didn't stop again until I got home.

I made it home just a couple of minutes before the wife did.

Turns out the first day of Spring wasn't a total bore.

It's mostly sunny and in the mid 50's, so I thought a ride sounded like a good idea. The whole time I was getting ready I wasn't real excited and didn't have any idea where I'd go.

20240409_123317.webp

I suited up, rolled the Limited out and headed off to get fuel, which was $4.99 a gallon btw. After fueling up I headed north, out of town.

As I headed north, wondering where to go, I really wasn't feeling it. The wind was pretty strong, out of the west. It was making things chilly, not cold mind you, but I wanted warmth, without putting on heated gear.

Turns out, today wasn't the day. I made my way back home, after only being gone for a matter of minutes.

11 miles.......

20240409_125808.webp

......is all I got in. Pretty sad. I guess I'm not as die hard as I used to be, or I've just rode everywhere within 300 miles and need it to be perfect or feel right in order to go for a ride these days.

It'll be nice when it hits the 70's and the wind stays out of the teens and above.

Maybe I'm just suffering from the no Jeep blues?

What a great day. It started with my grandsons soccer game, which I rode the Harley to.

Next up was a ride into Wisconsin, not to wrench on Rubi, but just for fun. The wife had a wedding shower to attend, so I was solo. I rode to Iowa too.

it was clear, sunny and warm....it hit 76 degrees!

20240413_085048.webp
Heading out!

20240413_123028.webp
Lunch, in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.

20240413_163016.webp
Pure bliss.

20240430_105918.webp
Finally, good weather! It started in the low 60's and hit the mid 70's.

20240430_134009.webp
Stopped in Galena, for a photo-op, on my way to Dubuque, Iowa.

20240430_134016.webp
You can't find a parking space in Galena, Friday-Sunday, to save your ass..lol.

20240430_163231.webp
I got home 2 minutes before the wife did. My "workday" was better than hers.

We need more days like today.

Got a request from a buddy to go with him to Chicago, to pick up a 2004 BMW RT1100.

He suggested stopping by my house and picking me up, on the way, since he lives 50 miles north west of me.

20240503_121916.webp
I said nope, I'm on my way to your house. I mean, wth did he plan to do with his Jeep or bike, once back at my house? Besides, I get to get in a ride.

20240503_160525.webp
Shitcago....gotta love it, not. The last 8 miles of our 115 mile trip to over an hour.

20240503_165234.webp
The dealership was in a swell neighborhood. The art work was not commissioned...lol.

20240503_171500.webp
Beemers, Triumph, Vespa and Enfield.

20240503_171607.webp
His new, 20 year old BMW. He has one just like it, that has a bad ABS module. This $2900 bike is about the same price as a new module...lol.

20240503_175901.webp
He rode it home, his first ride in 2 years. No better place to knock the rust off the old motorcycle skills...lol.

20240503_205435.webp
Once back at his place, we rode to the nearest pizza place.

20240503_212938.webp
Our first ride together in forever. Damn cops checking on us...lol.

20240503_223807.webp
I rode home in the dark, in 60 degree weather and loved every minute of it.

After playing guitar and mowing the lawn, I hopped on the Ultra.

20240510_135745.webp
It was cloudy, but there was no rain in the area.

20240510_150020.webp
Went to my local dealership, which isn't all that close, to get some supplies.

20240510_155658.webp
Nice little ride.

20240510_155704.webp
A little past due for a 3-hole service. I did oil & filter, o-rings, spark plugs and air filter. I picked up brake pads as well, but those are for another day. All in $369! Saved at least $500 doing it myself.....that's a guitar right there...lol.

20240510_193707.webp
Afterwards I found myself solo for dinner, so I took a ride.

20240510_191028.webp
Figured I'd make the best of my night alone.

20240510_201352.webp
It was a shorter ride to dinner, but curvier and more scenic.

Rain clouds were behind me on the way home. Temp fell to 62 degrees. It was a nice ride as well.

Tomorrow, its back Wisconsin for more Jeep shit. Hopefully it's Harley weather.

This is as good as it gets, for today anyway. After 130,000 miles it'll take more than 2 hours to get this thing looking showroom worthy.

20240515_160826.webp

If the weekend forecast is correct, it'll be dirty again soon anyway...lol.

After an hour of guitar and an hour of working out, I hit the road.

20240517_115147.webp

82, sunny, no wind....finally.

20240517_130046.webp

Scoped out the venue where my nephew is getting married next Friday.

20240517_135621.webp

Crossed the Illinois River a few times. This is in Henry.

20240517_135647.webp

Same spot, but looking north.

20240517_135807.webp

Well, there you have it; Henry.

20240517_171405.webp

Stopped home and picked up the wife, around 5pm.

20240517_194752.webp

We rode down the Rock River, from Rockford to Dixon. We stopped halfway, in Byron, for dinner and finished off the Night in Dixon at a wine bar.

20240517_212325.webp

Things cooled down to the mid 60's on the way home, but it was a great day!

The wife said she was ready for a ride, so I obliged.

20240519_130115.webp

20240519_145747.webp

Stopped for a late lunch in Sheffield IL.

20240519_153916.webp

20240519_154820.webp

Next up was the Psycho Silo Saloon in Langley....well, near Langley, as it's in the middle of nowhere.

20240519_154834.webp

It was the smallest crowd I've seen in years, but yesterday they had a huge event, so it makes sense.

20240519_155828.webp

The band was better than they looked...lol.

20240519_155946.webp

Soaking up some sun while taking in the tunes.

20240519_161414.webp

Such an empty lot....it's never like this.

20240519_161736.webp

The place has character.

20240519_163505.webp

20240519_163510.webp

She found a fan...lol.

20240519_181327.webp

Ventured up to Oregon, for a treat.

20240519_182810.webp

Love this place.

20240519_185504.webp

We had a great time.
