So then a thing happened. It actually is new! And it's already been on gravel.

Last nice day in the forecast for a while, so decided to do this after work.

Unfortunately the bike decided to do this:

What you can't see there is all the flashing shit on the cluster, and horrible engine miss. Barely pulled itself in first gear enough to get to a pull off. 91 fucking miles on it. A Honda.

That's odd for a Honda , they're stuff is known to run forever?!
Yeah, one of the major considerations with the purchase. The dealer is being solid. They came got the bike and dropped me off at home. The owner said they'd get on diagnostics first thing tomorrow morning. The owner has been super nice throughout. But yes, perplexing from Honda.

I'm developing an... 'opinion' on hondas. 😒

After my experience with the kid's 2005 civic and the on going relationship with the wife's 2017 Accord...
That run for civic is JUNK.
The Accord is fine except being difficult to work on for no good reason.

The dealer just texted me. The front wheel speed sensor was, in his words, on the edge of adjustment tolerance.

Again, perplexing from Honda. Not to mention disappointing.

I won't go into all the details, nor expect anyone to understand. That ride was needed. It was time I'll never get back.

The bike is home. Monsoons the next rwo days highlight the forecast. Sunday the wind blows like a two dollar hooker. The work week looks absolutely beautiful, with a 100% chance I have to gallivant to Raleigh. Next weekend looks like this weekend. I'm not in a good state of mind over this.

Though the deflated feeling persists, I spent a few minutes in the shop tonight. A fender eliminator was in order. Typically pictars would be involved but none this round. Her ass looks much better now.

Rolled 76 miles this afternoon. It was chilly and totally worth it. The repair is holding. I took a gravel road several miles. There were puddles as well as a little mud in places. The bike handled it wonderfully. Sweet. Riding back roads is the bike's design and my intent for it's use.

Looks sharp , but who would have thought a wheel sensor would cause that many issues. Would think as a Honda it would have a default tank mode.

Now we're getting somewhere. Took a late lunch today. Incidentally it just so happened to bump up against quitting time. Huh.

Coupled with the time change meant enough day remaining for a decent ride!

The bike felt quite relaxed on the gravel road above 20mph, really slightly better above 25. I ran up a little more speed a couple times to test the edges. I felt more at ease below 30. Summation: 25 to 30 was a sweet spot.

Back on asphalt, a quick break, then homeward bound. The chill set in quickly as the sun lowered in the sky.
