SW North Carolina National Forests

Exit seven cold spring Rd . It is past hurricane creek at the bottom of exit make a right. There are two spots on the creek as you head up the road. In the am you will have to go back down highway and turn around to get to right side of rest area

Also if you make a left at the exit when the road makes a switch back you will see where trucks are exiting the road mid turn. If you follow that it goes to spot on River. Beware there was a nasty yellow jacket nest in sand last time I was. There

Mostly packed up. Just gotta throw in the cooler before departure. Looking forward to a JO meet and greet, and a good day in the woods! See you guys there!

Awesome info [member=35]Cervesadiablo[/member] , I appreciate that. Unfortunately we had no signal. My backup horse camp was closed, so we kept on heading into Hot Springs, NC and camped at the resort and spa Campground.

Cant wait to meet up in the morning! I think we said the rest stop on i40 before HC at 0930.

Wow! That was an incredible outing. It was wonderful meeting everyone!

[member=35]Cervesadiablo[/member]? not sure if I found the goat trail. The map (Google) is all wrong around the Tower. There is only one entrance to it. The other is a power line. The roads are drawn incorrectly near the entrance. Just past the entrance to tower trail, going down the bank on the right, is the trail I followed out. It's cobbly but nothing the Tundra would struggle handling. My map eventually indicated I was on 288. But it is definitely NOT the main road out. It comes out on a gravel road just above the power plant.

Here are the approx coordinates where I entered the trail:

Pictars. Teasers for now. Yes, there was a Vette at Max Patch.  [laugh]

Edit: it deleted all of my text.
Edit2: thankfully Bryan brought up the draft feature the other day.

Let's see how this goes from the phone. Starting with the Nemo Tunnel that @The_Eng recommended. It was pretty neat and the water got pretty close to the bottom of the doors on the Tundra, over his light bar. You can follow the trail out to the river.

After Nemo we headed through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to head to camp at the Round Bottom Horse Camp, which was awesome and all to ourselves. While sitting around the campfire in the dark we heard what sounded like a siren at first, but turned into the  horrifying scream of a mountain lion (insert Bryan's cougar joke here).

Nemo tunnel looks awesome! How long of a trail is it?

It was pretty neat. From the road to the tunnel was maybe 8 minutes, the tunnel itself only takes about 3 minutes if you roll through without stopping.

We left camp and went to Table Rock for a moderate mile hike up hill. Camp was supposed to be Wilson Creek, but we couldnt find it. We ended up at 35.9205656, -81.8009521

Next day was Devil's Courthouse, which was considerably easier than Table Rock. We didn't like the Campground that we'd selected for the night so we drove a little further to find a better one. With no luck out there we made our way to Hot Springs, NC where we stayed at a primitive camp sight at the Resort & Spa.

Wednesday we met up with [member=1]badmonkey[/member] and [member=35]Cervesadiablo[/member] at the rest stop off of i40 for Hurricane Creek and Max Patch. HC was a nice quiet trail that was pretty easy for the Jeeps and the 4R. The Tundra being a low, long, 2wd truck rubbed in a few spots and had to be pulled out twice, but for being his first time Bert did pretty well. Thanks again for making the trip to hang out with us.

Few more HC. We aired down the Tundra from 45psi, which allowed a downed rotten tree to sneak it's way in between the wheel and tire. Fortunately we were able to get it out without damage once we reached Max Patch. After MP we decided to make a short trip over to Buzzards Roost for an overlook with a quick drop.
