I've been here since 10am.....updates at 11pm....lol.

Stayed until 5:30pm, home at 7pm.

Kevin's Cummins powered YJ

Today was frame day.

Straightened mangled control arm brackets.

Kevin attached weld nuts, as some of the holes weren't really round anymore.

This I cannot do.

Cutting pieces to box in the control arm brackets.

This made quick work of it.

Attaching said pieces.

One down....3 to go.

How does one sand inside these tight spaces?

20231112_144401.webp
With a Sawzall sander of course...patent pending.

Skids came off....one bolt snapped. But Kevin got it out.

Two front bumper bolts, that snapped off weeks ago, needed removed as well. Kevin managed to get them out too. I helped turn them, but the welding part was all him.

Broken bolt all gone.

The sway bar torsion rod was removed as well. Gonna need new nylon bushings, at the very least.

At this point all the frame work was done, aside from removing the old rear bumper.

Next time we'll work on the axles. Then it'll be metal work on the body. After that paint / bedliner, then I guess it'll start going back together. Kevin is hopeful we'll be done before New Year's.....I'm not as optimistic.

I was supposed to go work on the Jeep today, but I woke up at 4am coughing my ass off, for an hour, and slept like shit from then until 7am...which is when I was supposed to get up. Instead I went back to bed.

You have all winter long , take care of yourself first.

I have a better chance at winning the Powerball than I do having my Jeep getting finished this year. There are so many things going on on the weekends in December, I'll be lucky to have more than one day available to get to the shop. That's not even factoring in Kevin's schedule.

Winning the Powerball instead of finishing the Jeep this year, would be fine.....I guess. 😎

I don't believe I'll be working on my Jeep until 2024. Too much going on the rest of the month. Now, I might make it back to the shop to work on the mezzanine, so shit can get out of the way.

But honestly, I don't give two shits right now.

Made it to Kevin's today.

The final weld washer was put in place.

The old tire carrier bits and pieces were cut off, with the plasma cutter.

Things were smoothed down.

I'm going back tomorrow, unless we get hit with a winter storm, to apply the POR15 top coat.

It felt good to see progress today.

We're going to concentrate on getting this to roller status, before we touch the body again.
