Kevin's Cummins powered YJ
Today was frame day.
Straightened mangled control arm brackets.
Kevin attached weld nuts, as some of the holes weren't really round anymore.
This I cannot do.
Cutting pieces to box in the control arm brackets.
This made quick work of it.
Attaching said pieces.
One down....3 to go.
How does one sand inside these tight spaces?
With a Sawzall sander of course...patent pending.
Skids came off....one bolt snapped. But Kevin got it out.
Two front bumper bolts, that snapped off weeks ago, needed removed as well. Kevin managed to get them out too. I helped turn them, but the welding part was all him.
Broken bolt all gone.
The sway bar torsion rod was removed as well. Gonna need new nylon bushings, at the very least.
At this point all the frame work was done, aside from removing the old rear bumper.
Next time we'll work on the axles. Then it'll be metal work on the body. After that paint / bedliner, then I guess it'll start going back together. Kevin is hopeful we'll be done before New Year's.....I'm not as optimistic.
